The 2025 Subaru Impreza

Subaru’s venerable Impreza compact car has never taken the headlines in the segment and is often overlooked in its own brand line-up for the Forester and the Outback. However, that just makes it more of a pleasant surprise when you get to see and experience one. The 2025 Subaru Impreza is fresh off a 2024 redesign – let’s take a look what makes it a star!

Performance Features

Two different engines are available in the 2025 Subaru Impreza. The base engine is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that turns out 152 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque, while the RS model sports the famed 2.5-liter boxer engine, which puts down 182 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. Both are tied to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and standard all-wheel drive, the only model in the class to have AWD across its line-up. Underneath, the Impreza does feature torque vectoring, dual-pinion electric power steering, and a stiffened chassis, providing a sportier drive than its competitors. The base engine provides a fuel economy rating of 27 MPG city and 34 MPG highway, while the more powerful unit gets 26 MPG city and 33 MPG highway.

Style and Technology

The 2025 Subaru Impreza is available only as a hatchback, sitting low to the ground. The hexagonal grille is the star of the front fascia, offering a sporty appearance. This leads back to the gently sloping roofline that leads to the rear end.

The interior is simple and durable, providing seating for five. It’s spacious for the segment, with 39.8 inches of headroom and 42.9 inches of legroom up front, and 38.0 inches of headroom and 36.5 inches of legroom in the second row. The available moonroof reduces the front headroom to 38.7 inches but doesn’t impact the second row. The hatch makes for a spacious cargo hold, which provides 20.4 cubic feet of storage with the rear seats in place, expandable to 56.0 cubic feet with the rear seatbacks lowered.

Both the base 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen and the available 11.6-inch touchscreen feature standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. HD Radio and satellite radio are standard with the four-speaker stereo, as is a front USB port for media and charging.

Safety

Every 2025 Impreza comes with EyeSight Driver Assist Technology standard, which integrates adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, pre-collision braking, automatic emergency steering and pre-collision throttle management to avoid or mitigate accidents. A rearview camera and rear-seat alert are also standard, while blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert with emergency braking are available on higher trim levels.

Trim Levels

Three trim levels are provided for the 2025 Subaru Impreza.

The base model, simply called the Base, features the standards spelled out above. It sits on 16-inch steel wheels, with 16-inch alloy wheels optional. Cloth upholstery features across the interior, and the front seats are manually adjustable.

Sport models feature a sport-tuned suspension and sit on 18-inch wheels, providing for a slight step up in handling and performance. Inside, the infotainment system is upgraded to the 11.6-inch STARLINK Multimedia Plus system, with six speakers standard along with a USB-C input port and 4G LTE Wi-Fi capability. Sport Cloth upholstery throughout the cabin features red contrast stitching. In terms of safety, Blind-Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert is optional, while front seats can be heated, and a sunroof is available.

While the upgraded engine is a big part of the RS trim, there’s plenty more provided. Sitting on dark gray aluminum-alloy 18-inch wheels, the exterior is adorned with black accents throughout, including gloss black heated exterior mirrors. Inside, seats are clad in RS Cloth upholstery with red contrast stitching, and the front seats are heated. The driver seat is available with power adjustability. Aluminum alloy pedal covers, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and a leather-wrapped shifter handle add sportiness. The rear seats get additional USB-A and USB-C charging ports, while wireless device charging is included. A 10-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio system is available on the RS trim for top-end sound.

All of this comes at a price point that is below most of its competitors like the Honda Civic and Mazda 3. That is the cherry on top of the quality power and the smart trim options, making the 2025 Subaru Impreza an excellent package! Schedule a test drive today at Delaney Subaru!
